Last Updated 25 September 2017, 21:04 IST

Bangalore Development and Town Planning Minister K J George re-opened the Cauvery Junction underpass on Monday, as the repair works have been completed.

Known for its waterlogging woes whenever it rains, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) had closed the underpass to undertake repair works. The civic body also implemented the white-topping work.

A senior official said, “The tender was called to complete the work within 15 days. After the completion of the work, there was a bit of delay in opening the stretch for movement of vehicles.”

The traffic on Ballari Road will now be reduced, he said. This was one of the first magic-box underpasses which had been constructed by BBMP, spending Rs 1.5 crore.

Mayor G Padmavathi, BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad and other senior officials were present at the function.
