JOIN USVPS Darshan and HR Manasa, both from Mysuru, clinched titles in the men’s and women’s sections respectively in the State-level Dasara Open chess championship at the Chamundi Vihar indoor stadium here on Tuesday.
Darshan and A Balkishan of Bengaluru were tied at 8.5 points after nine rounds. However, on the basis of progressive tie-break score of 56, Darshan defeated Balkishan, who finished with a score of 54.5.
M Shivanth of Mysuru finished third with 7.5 points.
In the women’s section, Manasa emerged on top after scoring 6.5 points from seven rounds. Khushi M Hombal of Bhadravati with six points finished second (PG score-32). Prasiddhi Bhat of Mysuru secured the third place with six points (PG score 30.5).
