FIRs against BSY: ACB may move SC over HC stay

The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) may go to the Supreme Court against the stay given by the High Court of Karnataka on the investigation and further proceedings in two FIRs against former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa over the denotification of Shivaram Karanath Layout.

The ACB has sought the opinion of its legal cell on moving the Supreme Court. A suitable decision will be taken based on the legal opinion, a source said. The ACB had registered two FIRs on the basis of a complaint given byDr D Aiyappa over the denotification of 257 acres acquired for forming Shivaram Karanth Layout in northern Bengaluru. The first FIR pertains to the land acquired in Avalahalli while the second is about the land acquired in Somashettihalli. The FIRs were registered under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and sections 406, 420 and 120 B of the IPC. Yeddyurappa had challenged both the FIRs (August 10 and 17). The high court granted the interim prayer sought by Yeddyurappa, negating the contentions put forth by the ACB.
