Gang of 3 breaks car window on Church St, lifts Rs 2L valuables

Last Updated 26 September 2017, 19:52 IST

Three unidentified men broke open the window of a car parked on Church Street, central Bengaluru, on Monday night and made off with a bag that contained a laptop, an iPad and other valuables.

The bag belongs to Nimisha Sara Philip, a fashion magazine writer based in Chennai, who was in Bengaluru on official work. After finishing her assignment, she, along with the photographer and driver, parked the car and went to eat at a restaurant. When they came back, they found the car window was broken and the bag missing, police said.

Nimisha filed a complaint at the jurisdictional Ashoknagar police station. She said she lost her laptop, iPad, an external hard disc, debit and credit cards and some cash, all worth Rs 2 lakh.

Police reviewed the CCTV footage of the nearby area, which clearly showed three men lurking around the car. Two of them covered the car while the third person broke open the window and took away the bag. Later, they all escaped. Last week, a three-member gang had dropped Rs 60 in cash in front of a man as he parked his car on Commercial Street and asked him to pick it up. Just as the person stepped up to take the cash, the gang lifted a bag from the back seat of his car. The man didn’t realise it immediately and went for shopping. When he came back, the bag that had Rs 75,000 in cash was missing.

Police suspect a single gang behind both the incidents and are looking out for it.
