Foreign firm keen to run racing in Bengaluru

Last Updated 06 October 2017, 19:34 IST

Even as the long wait continues for racing activities to resume at the Bangalore Turf Club, an Australian company has shown its interest to run the sport in the city.

Cavallo Solutions, a racing solution specialist company located in Queensland, has written a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, seeking the government’s opinion on giving the company the rights to conduct racing in the city. Written by Wayne J Wood, Director, Cavallo Solutions, the letter speaks about holding racing on the lines of how it’s conducted in Australia.

“I write seeking your opinion if your government would consider foreign management from Australia, taking control and running thoroughbred racing in a professional manner along the lines of how racing is conducted and prospered in Australia,” says Wood in the letter.

Wood is a former race director and chief stipendiary steward at the BTC.

Meanwhile, with no solution yet on the licence issue, the BTC officials are set to meet former chairmen of the club on Monday to discuss the matter. No racing activity has taken place since the expiry of the licence on August 31.

The Criminal Investigation Department’s report on its probe into the BTC affairs, which was submitted to the government, has been handed over to the law department for further study.
