Last Updated 14 October 2017, 18:09 IST

Health and fitness startup HealthifyMe has announced the launch of Ria, the advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled fitness expert and nutritionist.

The startup, which was founded in 2012, has been working on Ria for more than a year now, and Ria considered to be the first-of-its-kind conversational AI-enabled nutritionist.

Unveiling Ria in the startup’s annual event Ignite, CEO Tushar Vashisht said, by the end of December, they will be completing the Beta launch. “It has 200 Man Years of nutritionist intelligence and speaks more than eight languages,” he said.

Developed under the code name Project Amadeus, Ria uses key learnings obtained from the startup’s 150 million tracked meals (over 20 billion macro and micro nutrients) and 10 million message exchanges. Amadeus is the next step to Jarvis, the AI that has been assisting coaches to become more efficient by learning from their interactions with clients.

Ria can answer questions around nutrition and fitness through both audio and text.

“Apart from India, we are also looking at emerging markets with similar health problems like obesity faced by the country. Users can directly interact with Ria in their languages. In future, we are also looking beyond nutrition in areas like health, education and finance,” he added.

HealthifyMe, which has workforce of 336 people, at present has three million users and it wants to take it to one billion soon. It also has over 200 coaches.
