Arduous wait for devotees at Hasanamba temple

With just three days left for the darshan of the deity, thousands of people thronged the Hasanamba temple on Tuesday. They had to wait in a serpentine queue of around 2 km, for almost seven hours to have the darshan of the goddess.

The leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council K S Eshwarappa, MLC V Somanna, MLAs Sa Ra Mahesh, H D Revanna, JD(S) leaders Sandesh Swamy, actors Prem, Bullet Prakash and family members visited the temple on Tuesday.

As their entry was stopped, to facilitate the dignitaries to have darshan, the devotees were enraged and were seen forcibly jumping the barricades, leading to an argument with the police.

3 lakh visitors

The number of people seeking special darshan, buying Rs 300 and Rs 1,000 tickets, were more on Tuesday. According to the temple authorities, more than three lakh people have visited the temple as on Tuesday morning, and another 30,000 will have darshan by night.

Auto driver Amit Gowda is being praised by the people for providing free autorickshaw service to the devotees from the bus stand and railway station up to the temple.
