'It is natural to make it a grand affair'

Excitement and anticipation are building up in the households of actors Meghana Raj and Chiranjeevi Sarja who are all set to get engaged on October 22.

While close friends and relatives have already started arriving, the couple are busy with last minute preparations.  While the wedding date hasn’t been fixed, Meghana and Chiranjeevi are looking forward to formalising their decade-long relationship.

In an interview with Nina C George, the actors talk about their plans for the big day and more.

The secret to your strong bond...

Meghana: I think it is our strong friendship, combined with unconditional love that
has strengthened our bond.

Chiranjeevi: We are comfortable in each other’s company. Meghana understands me and knows exactly what I want and how I feel. I don’t have to tell her anything.

Do you easily agree with each other on the issues that confront you?

Meghana: I am a very spontaneous person and is quick to make decisions. Chiranjeevi and I don’t agree on things so easily. We talk and discuss a lot before reaching the final decision.

Chiranjeevi: I am a calm person and I am never in a hurry to arrive at a decision. I take my time before I agree to anything.

Is the engagement going to be a grand affair?

Meghana: Our families have known each other for a long time. I believe that what matters most is not the grandeur of the engagement or the wedding, but the life after that. It will be a simple but memorable ceremony.

Chiranjeevi: After my uncle Arjun Sarja’s wedding 25 years go, our engagement is the next big function in our family. So it is natural to make it a grand affair.

We hear you both have designed the engagement rings?

Meghana: My ring is a combination of multiple designs. It is a diamond ring with Nakshatra design on it.

Chiranjeevi: Mine is a little antique in appearance. The ring is a mix of four designs and what is prominent is a two-headed bird which symbolises strength.

What are you wearing for the engagement?

Meghana: I am wearing a shimmery mauve gown with flowery, stone and pearl work on it.

Chiranjeevi: I have picked up a checked three-piece indigo blue suit, designed by Paresh Lamba. It has a retro finish to it.

What is on the menu?

Meghana: It will be a combination of the best of North and South Indian dishes.

Chiranjeevi: We have consciously kept Continental dishes out because we want people to have the authentic Indian
fare.

Could you give us a few names on your guest list?

Meghana: We will have our family and close friends. Also on our list are Ambarish, Shivarajkumar, Puneeth, Jaggesh, Rakshit Shetty, Nazriya Fahadh, Ananya and Jagapathi Babu.
