World over, the 'Chef's Day' was celebrated on Friday with much enthusiasm. Closer home, the chefs decided to bare their hearts to Metrolife. They talked about some of their interests and unravel some of their secrets.

Shazia Khan (Runner-Up of MasterChef India and Author) World Chef's Day to you means... Food is for survival and it's because of the effort and work put in by the chefs that our lives as easier. It's nice to be recognised.

Your comfort food: My mom's 'dal chawal' and 'chicken kebab'.
The weirdest food you've tasted: A type of mushroom in Hong Kong.
Pet peeves: I don't like when people waste food.
Your most embarrassing cooking moment: When I added salt instead of castor sugar.

Your comfort food: 'Koli Barthad', a dry chicken dish.
The weirdest food you've tasted: Frog leg
Pet peeves: When things are not in place.Your most embarrassing cooking moment: My team and I were straining tomato soup and it slipped and I fell on it. I had the burn mark for a long time.

Your comfort food: Mom's home cooked food.
The weirdest food you've tasted: Crickets / Silkworm and grasshoppers in Thailand.
Pet peeves: When people want to be a good cake decorator but don't want to put in the time and effort into practising the art. Nothing comes easy!
Your most embarrassing cooking moment: A student once pranked me not realising that I was holding a cake. I got scared and dropped the whole cake!

Your comfort food: 'Biryani'
The weirdest food you've tasted: The first time I tasted 'Parma Ham'.
Pet peeves: Cluttered surroundings
Most embarrassing cooking moment: During a food trial, I was unable to finish my food as I couldn't make good hollandaise.

Your comfort food: 'Spaghetti carbonara'
The weirdest food you've tasted: Jellied Moose Nose
Pet peeves: Using the same tasting spoon.
Most embarrassing cooking moment: I would not call it embarrassing but it was a great knowledge share when an enthusiastic foodie got confused between a Halloumi and paneer.
