Taxpayer taunts government on Vidhana Soudha diamond jubilee spend

Against the backdrop of a series of tragedies that have hit the city over the last few weeks, the state government has decided to spend Rs 10 crore on Vidhana Soudha’s diamond jubilee celebrations.

It is not surprising if people see stark irony in the government’s move.

After all, the potholes that dot the roads in the city killed four people and the heavy rain claimed 10 lives. Many had hoped that the government would spend the same money on programmes that truly benefit people.
