Timeless trends

Namrata has managed to leave an imprint on all her creations by giving them an unusual twist.

She says that her design philosophy is a fusion of trends and timelessness.

“My creations can be worn many years down the line. I make sure that the garments are high on trend and create designs that can be worn at any time, anywhere. I use my research to create a melange of styles which are used by the Indian woman with great elan,” she says.

Every dress in this collection has been worked upon to give a unique identity. “I always work towards giving the neckline, sleeves and the flow of the dress a different character. I use a lot of lace and net when making the dresses. Drapes are a big part of my design philosophy. Cape cuts, off-shoulder and tunic dresses are fast-moving products,” she adds.

What is also evident in this collection is the choice of colours.

“We started experimenting with colours ahead of its time. You will find canary yellow, burnt orange and bright pink in almost all my collections. These colours always give the wearer a whole new identity and boosts one’s confidence,” reasons Namrata.

She points out that her styles are suited for women of all age groups.

“Women across age groups can identify with my sensibilities and style. When customising the clothes, I keep the image of the customer in mind. I work on her sensibilities and create young and trendy garments which they would like to wear,” she adds.

Namrata states that her designs will never go out of vogue. “I have people who bring back an old dress that they bought from me a few years ago and ask me to make something new from it because they love the design,” she says.

She further states that the accessories must be carefully picked to match the garments.

“You have to carefully choose your accessories, footwear and put on the right amount of makeup to go with the clothes that you are wearing. A slight mismatch can spoil the whole look,” she signs off.

Namrata’s studio is located at Studio Kairos Namrata G, No 4, 1st cross, Lavelle Road.
