Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda on Monday advised the government to focus on providing succour to farmers in distress instead of wasting time by raking up a controversy over celebrating Tipu Jayanti.
He was speaking to reporters after visiting agriculture fields affected by pests at Bharamasagara in the taluk. Gowda said he would take up the issue of farmers with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The central and state governments should stop blaming each other unnecessarily, the JD(S) supremo said.
Gowda also took a dig at the BJP, which has organised a Parivarthan rally across the state.
