History-sheeter injures cop with knife, shot at

Sathanur police inspector Mallesh K shot a history-sheeter in the leg after the latter attacked the police team with a knife in a bid to escape, at Boregowdannadoddi early Tuesday morning.

The injured police sub-inspector Ananth Ram and the history-sheeter Chandra Kumar alias Chandru have been admitted to hospital. The condition of both of them is said to be stable.

According to police, Chandru was wanted in a murder case registered with the Sathanur police. He is accused of murdering an elderly woman identified as Kempamma on September 26, from whom he had robbed a gold chain weighing 70 to 75 gm, the police said.

A team of police pursuing the case received information that Chandru had come to his house in Boregowdannadoddi. At around 2 am, Mallesh along with Sathanur PSI Bhaskar, PSI Ananth Ram, ASI Kodihalli Kumaraswamy and a few other staff surrounded his house. Chandru, who was present in the house, picked a knife and assaulted Ananth Ram who was injured in his left hand.

Mallesh warned Chandru to drop his knife by firing a round in the air, but Chandru did not heed his words. The inspector then shot Chandru on the leg and shifted both the police officer and the rowdy to the Kanakapura government hospital.

October 11: Southeast division police shot at history-sheeter Karthik, who was on the run after he killed a software engineer in a road rage in Madivala recently.

October 16 - Halasuru police shot at history-sheeter Karthik when he attacked a policeman at a police checkpoint at DAD quarters near Halasuru lake. He is wanted in five criminal cases.

October 18 - History-sheeter Vasu was shot at and caught by the CCB police after he attacked a constable at Mariyappanapalya in Jnanabharathi.

October 21 - History-sheeter Raja Dorai (24) was shot at on his leg by CCB inspector Prakash Rathod, when he went to arrest him with a team, in Soladevanahalli. The history-sheeter attacked the police with a dagger, in a bid to escape.
