The Kannada Development Authority (KDA) has asked the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) authorities to make announcements in Kannada.

Though Kannada display boards have been installed at the KIA, announcements are still being made just in English and Hindi.

KDA president S G Siddaramaiah reviewed the use of Kannada at KIA on Thursday. He said the KIA website should also be in Kannada, besides English.

Commenting on this, Hari Marar, president and executive director of Bangalore International Airport (BIAL), promised to take immediate steps to give information in Kannada.

“We will give importance to Kannada in KIA and also set up Kannada learning centres within three months at the airport, where non-Kannadigas can learn the language.

Actor and former KDA president Mukhyamantri Chandru, poet Siddalingaiah and others were present.
