Youth drowns in Besthamanahalli lake near Attibele

A 20-year-old youth drowned in a lake near Besthamanahalli village on Anekal road near Attibele on Thursday evening.

According to police, the deceased Rakesh, who worked at a brick kiln in the village, had gone for a swim along with two of his friends. Rakesh ventured alone into the water and got stuck in the silt and drowned.

His friends, who were younger than him, got frightened and ran away from the spot, police said. The incident came to light when Rakesh's other associates started searching for him as he didn't return to the brick kiln in the evening.

They asked about him in the neighbourhood and learned that he had gone to the lake around 4 pm. They found his clothes and slippers near the lake. His associates informed Fire and Emergency Services who recovered his body on Friday morning.

Attibele police have registered a case of unnatural death.
