National vendor development programme from Nov 7

MSME Development Institute, Ministry of MSME, Mangaluru branch, will organise a two-day national vendor development programme cum exhibition at Town Hall in Mangaluru on November 7 and 8.

The programme will be organised in association with the District Industries Centre, Dakshina Kannada, and the District Small Industries Association, Yeyyadi, aiming to forge a marketing linkage between central public undertakings and micro and small enterprises.

Briefing reporters here on Saturday, Gokuldas Nayak, District Industries Centre joint director, said that the programme aims to provide an opportunity to micro, small and medium enterprises to showcase their capabilities to various wings of the government, establishments of railways, defence, public sector undertakings and other large scale private enterprises who outsource from micro and small enterprises.

The programme will enable large scale enterprises to identify suitable vendors in the MSME sector in order to forge the vendor-vendee relationship. It will also expose educated youth to identify and select suitable product or service from the exhibition and interaction with members of different exhibitors to take up entrepreneurship as their career.

The exhibition will have 65 stalls with exhibits from the MSMEs, South Western Railways, ONGC-MRPL, KIOCL, HAL (Kasargod), NPCIL (Kaiga), and banks. A seminar is also being organised to cover topics such as "Requirements of Large Scale Enterprises", "Procedure for Vendor Registration", "Public Procurement Policy", "Role of Supporting Agencies", and "Availing of Credit Facilities".

Nayak said that there are 17 large scale industries, 15,000 MSMEs, and 6 medium industries in Dakshina Kannada district.
