'Conspiracy to disturb peace'

Last Updated 08 November 2017, 18:59 IST

"By giving a call for Kodagu bandh, some people have been trying to  disturb  the peace and order in the district," alleged Nirvanappa, convenor of Bhoomi mattu Vasati Hakku Vanchitara Horata Samiti.

Addressing  reporters here on Wednesday, he said that even after knowing that Tipu Jayanti is a government programme, some people have been opposing the Jayanti, only for the sake of opposing it. "Tipu adored our state. People in Kodagu are not opposed to Tipu Jayanti as only 10% who comprise of Sangh Pariwar are against it," he alleged.

He further said that Tipu Jayanti should be peacefully conducted in the district. Stern legal action should be initiated against those who give room for untoward incidents, he said. "The district administration had promised to give jobs to Diddalli evacuees in Byadagotta and Basavanahalli. But, the assurance has turned out to be false. Though the district administration had said that houses will be built for the evacuees at a cost of Rs 4.50 lakh each  but the houses are now being constructed at a cost of Rs 3.30 lakh. The budget has been reduced by Rs 20,000 in the name of GST," he said.

Committee leader Amin Mohisin said that the Deputy Commissioner has not visited the place where Palemadu evacuees are residing in Moornadu. He meanwhile sought  handing over of the crematorium land to them.

Committee members Annappa, Appu and Srinivas were present.
