A 65-year-old man was bludgeoned to death by his son over financial dispute on Saturday night at Kaudenahalli near Ramamurthy Nagar.

The deceased has been identified as Narayanaswamy, a landlord and resident of kalkere Main Road  in Kaudenahalli.

When the incident came to light on Sunday, police arrested Narayanaswamy's son Manoj (28) who lives in Seegehalli near Whitefield.

Narayanaswamy owned five houses in Kaudenahalli that fetched him Rs 40,000 rent each month. His son Manoj, wife Jyothi and daughter were living separately in Whitefield, police said.

Manoj decided to get married and recently asked his father for money. He wanted a share of the rental income Narayanaswamy was getting, but the elderly man refused to share the income.

Police said Manoj met his father on Saturday and discussed the money issue. Heated argument ensued and, in a fit of anger, Manoj took a hammer and struck his father's head four times. As Narayanaswamy fell down in a pool of blood, Manoj hurried out of the house locking the doors from outside.

On Sunday afternoon, Manoj told one of his relatives that he bludgeoned his father on Saturday night. The relative informed the police. The Ramamurthy Nagar police rushed to Narayanaswamy's house only to find him dead from the cruel hammer blows of his son.
