Sahitya Sammelana: holiday for schools

The Commissioner for Public Instructions has declared a holiday for primary and secondary schools across the district on November 24 and 25, on the occasion of the 83rd Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelana being held in the city.

In a letter written to the district administration, the commissioner has declared the holiday. The students and teachers are requested to participate in the sammelana. Similarly, the University of Mysore has postponed the examination scheduled on November 24 and 25.

Traffic diversion

To ensure the free flow of traffic, the City Traffic Police have restricted vehicular movement at parts of the city. The vehicle movement between Kautilya Circle to Ekalavya Circle on Krishna Raja Boulevard (KRB), is restricted between 9 am and 11 pm, on all three days.

The police have identified separate parking slots for dignitaries and common people. While the vehicles of VVIPs can be parked on Maharaja's College Grounds and Arsu Boarding School premises, common people can park their two-wheelers near Maharaja's College Centenary Bhavan, Yuvaraja's College grounds, KRB Road, and Oval Grounds. Buses and heavy vehicles can be parked at Maharaja Junior College and Maharani's College.

Security

In order to maintain law and order in the city, the city police will beef up security across the city. As many as 900 police personnel, including officials, will be deputed in the city. Besides, seven Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) battalion, eight platoons of City Armed Reserve (CAR), five Fire Emergency vehicles, and six ambulances will be stationed near the venues of the sammelana.
