Speak Out published on October 31, 2017.

Speak Out is much appreciated for its wit and toung-in-cheek counterpoints. In this four-part recap we bring to you some editors picks of our Speak Out section. We hope this will delight you as much as it delighted us to put it together. The order is purely chronological from January until now.

Earlier this year, the Supreme Court had made playing of the National Anthem mandatory across all cinema screens in India, following a PIL. Anupam Kher's comments came in the wake of ensuing protests against the force-feeding of patriotism, better called as nationalism in the current political disposition, by the Judiciary.

Subramaniam Swamy, a high-ranking BJP leader, spoke out against Aadhaar's potential of threatening national security, saying that he would write a letter to the PM himself about the dangers of making one ID mandatory for everything like how the privacy activists have been doing for long.

Yashwant Sinha, a BJP leader, criticised Arun Jaitley for the mess caused by the implementation of GST, which had multiple tax rates, multiple forms and was plagued by technical issues since July 1.

BSP supremo Mayawati proclaimed that her party would join hands with any secular party to overthrow the BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha Polls, but demanded 'fair share' of the seats should the coalition win.

Pravin Togadia, a VHP leader, slammed the government for 'interfering' in running of Hindu temples and dared them to try and micromanage mosques and churches the same way. He was speaking at a conclave of Hindu seers.
