SLIDESHOW: Best moments of Parvathamma Rajkumar, on her birthday

Parvathamma Rajkumar, wife of legendary actor Dr. Rajkumar, was born on 6th of December in 1939.

She was married to Rajkumar in 1953, when she was just 13 years old.

As a successful producer, she produced 80 movies with Poornima Enterprises (Vajreshwari Combines). Her first film as a producer was 'Trimurthy' starring Dr. Rajkumar.

Later she went on to produce films with her sons Shivarajkumar, Raghavendra Rajkumar and Puneeth Rajkumar in lead roles.



Being a guiding force of Sandalwood, she launched popular heroines like Rakshitha Prem, Ramya, Sudharani, Malashri, and many others.

Parvathamma was also a philanthropist and founded 'Shaktidhama' for destitute women. She visited Shaktidhama once a month and also whenever she was on her way to Gajanur, Dr. Rajkumar's native village. More than 40 women and 1,000 children are currently residing at Shakthidhama.

Parvathamma, who was known to be a pillar of support for many from the industry, passed away on 31st May 2017, succumbing to multiple organ failure.

The main road in Yediyur ward of South Bengaluru has been named after her in her honour.
