'State Govt, Dist Adm responsible for BRTS delay'

MP Pralhad Joshi stated that the State Government and the District Administration are responsible for the inordinate delay in the implementation of the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) between Hubballi and Dharwad.

"We repeatedly asked the officials to speed up the works. We even brought the then union urban development minister Venkaiah Naidu to inspect the works. The project was approved in 2012, works started in 2013, and the project is not yet ready for commissioning," he lamented.

Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar noted that officials have informed that civil works of the BRTS project would be completed by January end, and the full-fledged launch of the project would be by March end.

"There is no question of playing election politics with regard to this project, as we would have been very happy if it was completed earlier," he added.
