Hubbali's upgraded airport open for air traffic from Dec 12

The Hubbali airport which has been upgraded at a cost of Rs 142 crore by the  Airports Authority of India (AAI) will be thrown open to air traffic on December 12.  

On the same day, the Bengaluru-Hubbali-Mumbai flight will also take wing.

Civil Aviation Minister Ashoka Ganapathy Raju will inaugurate the new terminal, MP Prahalad Joshi informed reporters here on Thursday.  

What's new?

The new terminal measures 3600 sqmt. The earlier terminal was 1674 sqmt. The runway has been increased to 2600 metres. A new Air Traffic Control (ATC) has been built and parking for three Airbus have been built, according to the MP.  

Flight to Mumbai  

A 124-seater Indian Airlines flight will fly the Bengaluru-Hubbali-Mumbai route every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday.    

The flight taking-off at Bengaluru at 12 noon will arrive in Hubbali at 12.50  pm. It will take-off from Hubbali at 1.25 pm and land at Mumbai at 2.30 pm.  

On the return, the flight will take-off from Mumbai at 3.25 pm and land at Hubbali at 4.35 pm. It will leave Hubbali at 6.10 pm and land in Bengaluru's Kempe Gowda International Airport (KIA) at 7 pm.  

The initial ticket price for the Hubbali-Mumbai stretch has been fixed at Rs 3840. The Hubbali-Bengaluru pricing is yet to be finalised.
