The alleged molestation of 'Dangal' actress Zaira Wasim on board a Delhi-Mumbai flight by an unidentified man Sunday drew strong ire from netizens in Kashmir, who voiced their support for the actress and demanded strict action against the accused.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said she was appalled at what happened with Zaira. “Any harassment/crime against women should be dealt with swiftly & effectively. As a mother of 2 daughters, I am appalled at what happened with @zairawasimz. Hope the relevant authorities take strict action @airvistara @Ashok_Gajapathi @jayantsinha,” she tweeted.

Mehbooba's predecessor and opposition National Conference leader Omar Abdullah ile demanding legal action against the accused said: "The passenger should be identified to the police by @airvistara & a case filed for legal action."

"None of this 'he fell at my feet so I forgive him' rubbish!" he wrote on Twitter.

Muzamil Bhat, a netizen wrote on his Facebook page: "Zaira Wasim is a small baby and we should condemn the hoodlums and sexual Assault she was confronted with in the dark hours of the night. Let’s think what if it would have been our sister, mother travelling in the same aeroplane and she come across same contingency will we attribute religious motives to our sister."

The National Award winning actress was allegedly molested by a co-passenger on Air Vistara flight. The actress narrated her ordeal on Instagram via live video.

Zaira, who played wrestler Geeta Phogat in Aamir Khan starrer 'Dangal,' said she was on the Air Vistara flight from Delhi to Mumbai when a co-passenger sitting behind her put up his feet on her armrest.

She is not new to controversies. Earlier, in January Zaira posted an “apology and confession” whereby she asked people not to follow her footsteps and that she doesn’t deserve to be a role model. Apparently, she felt offended by comments made by trollers on Facebook and Twitter after she met Mehbooba.

In June she and her boy friend, son of ruling PDP leader, had a narrow escape after a car she was travelling on met with an accident in Srinagar.
