Rajasthan Hacking: Shambulal sent to police custody till Dec 20

A 36-year-old man Shambulal who was arrested by police on Thursday for allegedly killing a labourer and burning his body in Rajsamand district has been sent to police custody till December 20 by a local court on Sunday.

Shambulal was arrested on December 7 for brutally murdering Mohammed Afrazul, 48, and also filming the act with the help of his nephew.

Initially, Shambulal was booked under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing the disappearance of evidence). However after producing him in the court police has added more sections such as 153 A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and section 153 B (imputations, assertions prejudicial to national-integration) and  295A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs).

His 15-year-old nephew who filmed the horrific video was sent to Child Care Home in last hearing has been also booked under criminal conspiracy and sections of the IT Act for filming the video of the murder.

On Sunday Rajsamand Police have also recovered the blood-stained pants of Shambulal which according to them he was wearing while committing the murder. "During our search operation at his house we were able to get hold of trousers which has blood stains on it. We will give it to the forensic test", Rajendra Singh Rao, circle officer, Rajsamand said.


Speaking to the media, Shambulal claimed that he killed Afrazul as his associate, also a Muslim man from West Bengal had eloped with a Hindu girl from his village one year ago. "I am not ashamed for whatever I did. The man forcibly took her away. Her parents were upset over their wedding", Shambulal told media.


Meanwhile, Internet services which were suspended in Rajsamand have been restored.
