A run for language, unity

A large number of people braved the misty morning and chilly weather to take part in the Mandya Marathon-2017 'Kannadakkagi Odu' on Sunday. The marathon was organised to spread awareness about the language on Bengaluru-Mysuru road.

The marathon was organised by Kayakayogi Foundation, Organic Mandya, Ananya Art Institute, Arunodaya Trust and others.

Sports teams, school and college students, homemakers, senior citizens from Mysuru, Davangere and Ramanagar participated in the run. The marathon began at Shivakumara Swami park at Swarnasandra Layout and culminated at Hosabudanuru village. While it was a 10 km run for men, it was 5 kms for women and senior citizens. People cheered the runners all through the route by clapping and whistling.

Legal Services Authority member-secretary and senior judge Mansoor Ahmed Jaman, Dy SP Chandrashekar and former minister M S Atmananda flagged off the rally.
