Two killed in car, truck collision

Two people died and two others suffered injuries when the car they were travelling in hit a lorry at NH-66 at Basrur Murukai in Kota in Kundapur on Tuesday.

According to police, the deceased have been identified as Girija, aged 56 years and Avinash, aged 27 years. The driver drove the car negligently and took a right turn at the divider while travelling towards Kota and hit the lorry which was plying towards Udupi.

A case has been registered in Kota police station.

Cattle theft: 2 arrested

The CCB sleuths arrested two persons who were involved in the theft of cattle reared by Balasamrakshana Kendra, at Kutharpadavu.

According to City Police Commissioner T R Suresh, the arrested are Ahmmed Kabeer (29) of Bengre and Shahul Hameed (28) of Bantwal. The police have seized a car used for transporting the stolen cattle and cash of Rs 6300.

In fact, Ahmmed Kabeer is facing charges of seven cattle theft cases registered at Panambur, Bajpe, Karkala and Ullal Police stations. There are eight cattle theft cases against Shahul Hameed at Kadaba, Uppinangady, Panambur, Bajpe, Karkala and Ullal Police station limits.
