JOIN USA group accosted a youth belonging to a particular community and handed him over to the police after he was found speaking to a girl belonging to another community at State Bank circle here on Wednesday.
The boy and the girl were speaking near State Bank Circle when a group followed them. On suspecting the motive of the group, the girl fled the spot. The group caught hold of the boy identified as Nissar and questioned him and also threatened him against speaking to the girl.
Though the boy claimed that they were colleagues working in a mall, the members did not let go of him. On learning about the incident, Mangaluru South Police rushed to the spot, sources said.
Inspector K U Belliappa said that, "When the boy and the girl were conversing, a group, claiming to be the girl's family, arrived and began interrogating the youth. The police rushed to the spot. It is not known whether the group belongs to any organisation," he said.
