Shobha to meet Rajnath for NIA probe

Last Updated 13 December 2017, 18:07 IST

BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje on Wednesday accused the state government of hushing up the killing of Paresh Mesta at Honnavar in Uttara Kannada district and said she will soon meet Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to seek a NIA probe into the killing of Hindu activists in the state.

"When both Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy are defending the killers, the truth will not come out...Siddaramaiah is acting as if he is the reincarnation of Tipu Sultan. He does not want to protect Hindus. He is indulging in vote-bank politics by trying to please Muslims," she told reporters.

Shobha said the doctor, who conducted the postmortem on Mesta body, is now missing. The BJP is planning to take out a protest rally at Honnavar on December 18. It will be done if the permission is given, she added.

Mesta was brutally murdered. It is suspected to be a criminal act by Ppopular Front of India (PFI) members who have connections with Islamic State (IS). So, the PFI should be banned immediately, besides arresting its members, she added.
