Forums set Jan 15 deadline to resolve Mahadayi row

The Kalasa Banduri Struggle Forum and other organisations have threatened to intensify their agitation if three major political parties in the state - the Congress, the BJP, the JD(S) - fail to resolve the Mahadayi river water dispute by January 15, 2018.

Representatives of the organisations held a protest meeting in front of Town Hall in Bengaluru on Friday in support of their demand.

Addressing the protesters, writer Chandrashekar Patil said that while people having been seeking completion of the Kalasa Banduri project for several decades now, nothing much has moved forward.

Political parties have been making false promises, turning a blind eye to the sufferings of the people, he said.
