Three women were killed on the spot in a serial accident involving a tipper truck, an autorickshaw and  a car on Magadi Road near Tavarekere in Ramanagaram  district on Friday afternoon.  Two persons were injured in the incident.

The deceased have been identified as Pushpa Chethan (21), Jyothi (29) and Channamma (45), natives  of Kottigepalya near Kengeri, the police said.  They were on their way to visit a temple in Huliyurdurga in Tumakuru district.

According to the  police, the  speeding truck first collided with the  auto and later rammed into the  car. The  three women passengers in the car were killed on the spot, they said. Pushpa's husband Chethan, who was driving the car, and auto driver Vasanth escaped with minor injuries, they said.

The  truck, loaded with quary waste, was coming towards Bengaluru from Magadi. At  Honaganahatti, Vasanth tried to overtake the car  and failed to notice the  speeding truck coming in the opposite direction, resulting in the collision, the police said.

Villagers informed the Tavarekere police, and helped in retrieving the bodies. The bodies were shifted to the Sri Rajarajeshwari Medical College Hospital for postmortem. The  injured persons were treated at a nearby hospital.

The Tavarekere police have registered a case and seized the three vehicles. They  have also retrieved CCTV footage of the accident that  was recorded from a nearby  shop.
