Farmers demand compensation

Of the total land acquired for Malaluru lift irrigation project the compensations pertaining to 19.20-acre land has not been dispensed to farmers. The compensation must be immediately provided to the farmers, urged Malaluru Eta Niravari Nirashritara Okkoota President Somegowda.

Addressing reporters here on Monday, he said that it has been 20 years since the project started. But it has not been completed. Even though the regulation has the provisions for compensation, the Deputy Commissioner has not been able to take a decision even after chairing six meetings.

Meanwhile, he clarified that the farmers have not obstructed the work. However, some farmers have used abusive words. They have been creating differences of opinion among farmers. The officials must do the needful to provide compensation to the farmers who have lost their lands, he added.
