Tulunadan Kalari, an attraction at Tulunadochaya

Vishwa Tuluvere Ayano Koota and Dr Shivaram Karanth Pilikula Nisargadhama will organise 'Tulunadochaya 2017' at Pilikula on December 23 and 24.

Briefing reporters here on Tuesday, Tulunadochaya president David Frank Fernandes said that seminars, exhibitions, folk expo, Coastalwood cinema parba, demonstration on traditional occupation, food festival, and others will be held.

Vishwa Tuluvere Ayano Koota general secretary Rajesh Alva said that as part of Tulunadochaya, a two-day national workshop on Tulunadan Kalari will be organised.

The workshop will be organised in association with Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram, Thiruvananthapuram, Kadathanad Kalari Vidya Peetam (Academy for the study and research of Indian Martial Arts), Vadakara

The workshop aims to create awareness and inculcate sensitivity among the Tulu-speaking people on 'Tulunadan Kalaripayattu'.

'Tulunadan Kalaripayattu', existed in the middle ages and is considered the most advanced and supreme form of Kalari tradition.

As part of the programme, there will be paper presentation on Tulunadan Kalari, demonstration on Kalari, Kalari massage, kalari therapy, Kalari for self defence (for women), Kalari gymnastics (physical fitness), Kalari stick fighting techniques, kalari weaponary exhibition, Kalari oil preparation will be held.

'Tulurathna Birdh' will be conferred on playwright D K Chowta, organiser Sunitha M Shetty and Siripaddana artiste Gopal Nayak Machar. 'Janamaithri' awards will be conferred on SCDCC Chairman Rajendra Kumar, A J Shetty, Martin Aranha, Sudheer Kumar Shetty and M E Mulooru.

Lifetime achievement awards will be conferred on Film director Richard Catsellino, Deepak Rai Panaje, and Muralidhar Kamath on the occasion.
