After contacting two historians from Rajasthan, now the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has approached three former rulers - Raghuveer Singh of Sirohi, Maharawal Jagmal Singh of Banswara and Vishwaraj Singh Mewar for their expert views on the controversial film 'Padmavati'.

The royals have confirmed receiving communication from the CBFC recently. However a reluctant Vishwaraj Singh Mewar said until the CBFC responded to his letter citing objections, he will not consider the offer to be part of a review panel. "I received a phone call but unless they reply to my letter, i will not participate," Vishwaraj said.

Jagmal Singh, another royal said, "I will give my views. But they should take it seriously . Otherwise it will be a mere exercise."

On a call from CBFC, the State government had suggested constituting a panel of historians to give their expert views on the film 'Padmavati'. Three have been shortlisted. Rajasthan based historians R S Khangarot, principal of Agrawal College in Jaipur, B L Gupta, retired head of department of History and professor K K Singh of Udaipur are already on the panel.

Protests against Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Padmavati marked its presence in most of the cities across the country. Right from the shooting of the film till the release of its trailer followed by the first song, the spearheading Rajput body has been alleging that there are two elements in the film which have no historical record. First is a scene in which Deepika Padukone is shown romancing with Allaudin Khilji. The second objection is to Padmavati performing the 'Ghoomar' dance in a darbar, which they say, is an affront to Rajput culture as no queen or princess would ever dance in a Durbar.
