The Basavanagudi women's police have registered an FIR against  Kannada actor Subramanya for allegedly raping a woman and threatening to kill her.

The police said a woman had filed a complaint against Subramanya who played a lead role in the movie Hombanna. He is a native of Tirathahalli in Shivamogga district. The woman, in her complaint, said that he raped her after offering her juice laced with sleeping tablets.

In the complaint, the police said that the woman and the actor knew each other for the past two years. Both their parents were aware of the relationship. The woman said that Subramanya had promised to marry her after Hombanna was released in July. But he deferred the plan.

On November 1, the suspect told her he would take her out for a party at her sister's house. Instead, he brought her to his room, gave her juice laced with sleeping tablets and raped her, the complainant said.

The victim, however, did not complain following an assurance from Subramanya that he would marry her. She, however, decided to file a complaint after the actor stopped answering her calls and became evasive.

She alleged in the complaint that he refused to marry her and also threatened to kill her and her family if she revealed the incident to anyone. The police have taken up the case and are investigating. They are on the lookoput for Subramanya.
