3 held for attacking murder accused in Kalladka

Dakshina Kannada district police have arrested three persons in connection with the attack on a man at Kalladka on December 26. The injured, Keshava, is an accused in the Jaleel Karopady murder case.

According to DK SP C H Sudhir Kumar Reddy, the arrested are Mohammed Iqbal (47), son of Umar Abba, alias Boot Palace Iqbal, a resident of Mangaluru; Nizam (21), son of Mohammed Iqbal of Mangaluru; and Mohammed Sharief (22), son of Abdul Razzaq of Panemangalore and cousin of Channa Farooq who is associated with PFI Aladka.

Mohammed Iqbal was leading health wing activities of SDPI while Nizam is associated with the PFI Bunder unit. Nizam was found to be with Channa Farooq when the offence was committed. Nizam is the son of arrested Mohammed Iqbal. Two others were arrested on charges of criminal conspiracy, harbouring and abetment of crime. Efforts are on to arrest some others who are involved in the offence, the SP said.
