Kodagu district police have arrested three persons in connection with the murder of jeep driver Kalachanda Ranju Poovaiah of Iggodlu village of Madapur in Somwarpet taluk.
Shanthi Poovaiah (36), wife of Poovaiah, Mandepanda Rajesh (40) of Chambebellur village of Virajpet and Mandepanda Ashok (44) of Chembebellur, are the arrested.
Addressing reporters here on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police P Rajendra Prasad said that Rajesh was an accused in two murder cases earlier in Virajpet rural police station limits. A court had subjected him to seven-year imprisonment in 2012 and he had come out on bail. Another accused, Ashok, too, was booked for the violation of Arms Act and for posing life threat, he added. Mobile phones, a two-wheeler and an SBBL gun used for the murder have been seized from the arrested.
Poovaiah's wife Shanthi and Rajesh fell in love after they were introduced through Facebook. Eventually, Shanthi had asked her beau to kill her husband Poovaiah as he consumed liquor and beat her up along with her children daily. She also offered him an amount of Rs 1.50 lakh.
Two teams had been formed under the leadership of Somwarpet inspector and DCIB inspector.

M N Niranjan, K S Anil, V G Venkatesh, K R Vasantha, M P Sumathi, U A Mahesh, C K Rajesh, M A Girish, K S Shashikumar and Sheshappa were part of the investigating team.
