Father of missing techie moves HC for CBI probe

The High Court of Karnataka on Wednesday issued notices to the Centre and the CBI on a petition  over the disappearance of a 30-year-old software engineer in Bengaluru last month.

Kumar Ajitabh, who worked for  British Telecom in Bellandur,  went missing after driving off in  a sedan on December 16. He had put the car up for sale on OLX, an  online marketplace.

His father, Ashok Kumar Sinha, has urged the court to order a CBI inquiry into his son's disappearance as the police have been unable to trace him.

Justice A S Bopanna, who heard the petition, ordered notices to the CBI and the Centre.  The matter has been adjourned until January 8.

Ajitabh had left his Whitefield residence around  6.30 pm  on December 16,  according to his roommates. His  phone was last active at 7.10 pm. There has been no news of him ever since.

Sinha listed several possibilities in the petition. He suspects  his son  was  kidnapped by anti-social elements since he is a highly skilled software engineer or could be a victim of  an organ trafficking gang.
