Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched a slew of development projects in Arsikere, Belur and Arkalgud taluks in the district on Thursday.

After launching the 'Sadhana Samavesha' in Arsikere, Siddaramaiah trained his guns at the opposition parties, which have been opposing the Yettinahole project. He said, "I am not mad to spend Rs 13,000 crore for a project without any reason. It will supply drinking water to seven districts of the state."

He said, "The people of Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Tumakuru, Hassan, Bengaluru Rural, and Ramanagaram are suffering due to the scarcity of drinking water. The project will address the problem."

Criticising the JD(S) leaders, he said that a few of them have been alleging that the project is unscientific and it is not possible to supply water to the drought-affected districts. "Do not believe their words," he said.

The CM explained that the government has already spent Rs 2,000 crore for the project. The project could not take off due to the delay in land acquisition. The water will be lifted from the month of May, he assured.

Belur

Launching various development works in Belur, Siddaramaiah said that there is no JD(S) wave in the state. "The JD(S) leaders are opportunists. H D Kumaraswamy will never become the CM. They are waiting to turn into kingmakers and to form a coalition government after the upcoming elections," he said.

As soon as the CM used the term opportunists, the JD(S) leaders started leaving the dais one after the other.

"After Devaraj Urs, I am the only CM to complete the five-year term. The people of the state will bless the Congress back to power," he said. Siddaramaiah also took the opportunity to highlight the government's achievements and programmes.

He also targeted the Prime Minister Narendra Modi by saying 'Mann Ki Baat' will not eradicate hunger. The Centre has no concern for the farmers. The BJP leaders do not speak about this, he said.

Siddaramaiah informed that he has signed the documents pertaining to the release water to Halebeedu, Madihalli and Javagal hoblis through the Yettinahole project. The authorities have been directed to complete the project by February end, he said.

District in-charge Minister A Manju, MLA Y N Rudreshgowda, and ZP president Shwetha Devaraj were present.
