Indira Canteens will now roll across the city, literally, with mobile Indira Canteens. The new avatar of the canteens will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on January 26, 2018.

Addressing a press meet on Thursday, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner, N Manjunath Prasad said that the 24 mobile Indira Canteens will be launched in those localities where the civic body could not find any space to build them.

"These are state-of-the-art canteens, equipped with CCTV cameras and GPS. They also have an overhead tank, a drinking water tank and an underground sump. The used water will be collected in the underground sump and will be dispensed when it reaches the final destination," said Manoj Rajan, special commissioner, Indira Canteens.

It will travel three times a day, each for breakfast, lunch and dinner and will be stationed at a designated spot. The timings and the menu of these mobile canteens will be similar to the Indira Canteens, Rajan said.
