Fadnavis faces threat from 'scrutinised Hindu fundamentalists': Prakash Ambedkar

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis faces threat to his life from "scrutinised Hindu fundamentalists", veteran Dalit leader Prakash Ambedkar claimed on Wednesday.

Ambedkar, in order to support his claims,  pulled out Facebook posts  by Raosaheb Patil, who he  said was a "close aide" of Sangli-based Sambaji Bhide Guruji, the founder of Shree Shiv Pratisthan Hindustan.

Ambedkar had earlier blamed Bhide Guruji and Milind Ekbote, the founder of Samastha Hindu Aghadi, for the January 1 violence at Bhima Koregaon.

The Facebook post from January 1  said the chief minister, state minister Girish Bapat and BJP leader Sudheendra Kulkarni must be murdered.

"...If for Bhima Koregaon the numbers are less, you can chop off Girish Bapat, Devendra Fadnavis, Sudheendra Kulkarni without hesitation, I would have no objection. They are insects infesting the country and Maharashtra..." the post reads.

In  his profile, Patil describes himself as "a staunch Shiv Sainik following the ideology of Hinduhrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray" and has photos of Thackeray, Bhide Guruji and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on his profile.

Ambedkar, who is a lawyer by profession, demanded that the Pune police commissioner and additional commissioner, Pune Rural  SP and additional  SP and the Intelligence wing chief of Pune must immediately be shunted.

"I am sure the intelligence was gathered but whether it was passed on is  the question," Ambedkar said, adding that they should be put in "decorative posts" in the Mantralaya forthwith.

When pointed out that  Patil could be a Shiv Sainik, he said it may not be so and that  this  could be used for deception.

"There are several Hindu fundamentalist organisations... some are scrutinised and some are unscrutinused," he said.

No immediate reactions were available from Chief Minister's Office.
