JOIN USMembers of women's organisations and Asha workers have approached the Konaje Police Station seeking help against a man who has deserted his deaf and dumb wife and two children.
It was said that Asif, a resident of Boliar, had married Hafsa 15 years ago. He was living in his wife's house for 12 years and later started distancing himself from the family. It was Hafsa's mother Nabeesa who was taking care of her daughter and grandchildren.
In the past, Nabeesa had complained to the police against Asif and the police through a mediation had asked Asif to pay Rs 2,000 for his wife and also look into the expenses of his children every month. However, he was not paying for the upkeep of Hafsa and his children.
It was said that he was carrying out fishing in Marad in Ballari for the last one year. Though he has returned from Marad, he has not visited his wife and children. He had allegedly married a woman from another community at Marad.
However, on Tuesday, Asif appeared before the police and promised to pay monthly allowances for his wife and kids.
