Hortonworks to unveil new app store

Last Updated 20 January 2018, 16:13 IST

Hortonworks, a provider of global data management solutions, is planning to open an app store on DataPlane Service (Hortonworks DPS) later this month.

Hortonworks Co-founder and Chief Product Officer Arun C Murthy said the app store will help startup to come up with new application.

"Hortonworks DPS has made simple to provision and operate distributed data systems no matter the use case, whether for data science, self-service analytics or data warehousing optimisation," he told DH.

Murthy said  because DPS governance capabilities are built-in and based on open source technologies such as Hadoop and Apache Atlas, its users will enjoy easy access to trusted data available behind the firewall, public cloud or a combination.

Hortonworks DPS is a next-gen service to manage, govern and secure data and workloads across multiple sources (databases, EDWs, clusters, data lakes), types of data (at-rest, in-motion) and tiers (on-prem, multiple clouds, hybrid).

It allows enterprises to focus on getting more value from data quicker by providing an intuitive experience for managing all data.

Hortonworks has also established platforms Hortonworks DataFlow (HDF) and Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP).

Hortonworks, founded in 2011 and became the fastest-ever software venture to touch $100 million in revenue, has around 200 people in Bengaluru centre by the end of 2017.
