Last date today to file objections to master plan

Last Updated 22 January 2018, 19:27 IST

Tuesday is the last date for the public to submit objections or suggestions to the Revised Master Plan (RMP) 2031. The  Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has asserted that it will not entertain submissions coming later.

People can make the submissions at the BDA office in Banashankari or  its head office on T Chowdaiah Road  by 5.30 pm.

Letters sent a day prior to the last day will be accepted even if they are received late. But those sent after Tuesday will not be considered, a BDA official said, adding that e-mails should be sent before midnight.

Last week, at  a meeting of the Bangalore Metropolitan Planning Committee (BMPC) chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, many people sought more time for  filing the submissions. But BDA Commissioner Rakesh Singh ruled out extending the last  date.

9,000 objections

The BDA has  received 8,869 objections, according to its  town planning member N K Thippeswamy. "On days immediately following the publication of the RMP, we did not get  many objections. But over the past week, we have  been receiving  at least 400 applications every day. Around 400 objections arrived by e-mail until Sunday. On Monday, we received 3,090 objections. People were standing in a queue to make submissions at the BDA office," he added.

Committee to check submissions

A four-member committee will look into the submissions. BBMP special commissioner B M Vijay Shankar, director M N Kumar, joint director Nanjegowda, besides Thippeswamy  are its members.

The BMPC has allowed the BDA to publish the master plan after making changes depending on the merits of the submissions.
