Police shoot at rowdy

After a series of attacks on cops last week, the police on Wednesday shot a rowdy on the leg thrice when he resisted them while they were trying to arrest him.

Aleem Khan (34), a fugitive, had attacked constable Rajendra (50), a patrol vehicle driver, when he went to attend a complaint that some people were causing nuisance in J J Nagar.

Khan and his gang members attacked Rajendra with weapons and escaped. Rajendra is still recovering from the injuries.

On Wednesday, J J Nagar police inspector Lingaraj received information about Khan's presence near Chikkabasti in Ullal.

He rushed to the spot along with three policemen.

Constable Venkatesh was injured when Khan charged at the police when they surrounded him.

In retaliation, Lingaraj shot Khan in his legs.

Khan is a rowdy in J J Nagar and is facing several cases of murder, dacoity and robbery in various police stations.
