<p>A woman was tonsured by her family members for marrying man of her choice.<br /><br />The incident took place in Paidipally village under Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation in Telangana. Twenty-three year old Jannu Veena married Mandha Praveen on 28 December.<br /><br />Coming from the same caste and being neighbours since childhood, they were in love for years and solemnised it by formally wedding at a temple.<br /><br />The couple stayed away from the village for the first few days after the marriage fearing threat from their families. However, they moved to native Paidipally a week ago after local corporator advised the parents against disturbing them. After gaining confidence they returned to the village a week ago with the blessings of the local corporator Veera Bhikshapathi.<br /><br />"The couple came to me and asked for my help and protection. I called their parents and advised them to leave the newly married couple alone," he said.<br /><br />On Monday, the brothers and sisters-in-law of Veena came to their house and took them to her maternal uncle's place in Jammikunta town in the same district for peaceful settlement of the issue.
