Two daily wage labourers have turned out to be big-time drug peddlers in the city.
The lavish lifestyle of Rachappa (34) and Srinivas (47), both from Chamarajanagar, led the police on their trail. Police kept watch and caught them when they came to sell drugs in Koramangala, Southeast Bengaluru.
Police said they were surprised to learn that the men earned a whopping Rs 40 lakh a year and had been peddling drugs for the past 12 years. They sold at least 30 kg marijuana every week. They had amassed crores of rupees in the past decade. Police seized 26 kg marijuana from their car, besides Rs 5 lakh in cash.
A senior police officer said the men had rented a house in Chandapura to store marijuana and hired jobless youth as drug peddlers. Their clients were mainly college students and software engineers.
