JOIN USAssociation of New Mangalore Port Stevedores has termed the ongoing indefinite strike by transport company lorry, trailer, crane drivers at NMPT as illegal.
"The transport company lorry trailer, crane drivers have stopped functioning all of a sudden without bringing it to the notice of the transport company. The strike has caused inconvenience to the agents and lorry owners," said the association members.
A complaint has already been filed in Panambur Police Station. The private transport owners have brought the issue to the notice of District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and MLA Mohiuddin Bava.
According to the lorry owners, the drivers are paid much above the minimum wages along with allowances. It is the AIPWF union that had instigated the drivers to go for indefinite stir, said a release.
