13-yr-old girl hangs self

A 13-year-old minor girl committed suicide by hanging herself at home in Devarajeevanahalli on Tuesday, in what is suspected as unhappiness due to family dispute.

Deepika, a Class VII student in Kanaka Nagar in DJ Halli, returned home after school on Tuesday and hung herself when her family was not at home.

The police said Deepika was living with her grandmother since her mother was chronically ill. Her uncle is an alcoholic, who came home drunk and fought with her grandmother daily.

Deepika's family said she was unhappy over her uncle's behavior and that could have prompted her to commit suicide. The police have registered a case of unnatural death, and are investigating the actual cause of her suicide.
