Bengaluru-based startup Emflux on Thursday launched the first electric sports bike in India at Auto Expo 2018 in Greater Noida. By launching the first e-sports bike, named Emflux ONE, the company is aiming to break the myth that electric vehicles lack speed.

“We wanted to push the eco-friendly bikes in the market, but there was a myth that these bikes are not fast moving. We worked on that and produced this bike, which is the first fully electric sports bike of India," said Vinay Raj Somashekar, co-founder of Emflux and the chief designer of the bike.

Emflux worked for almost one and a half years to design the bike. The makers claim that this bike can deliver the performance of 600-700CC bikes that are already on the road.

The makers have not compromised on the design as it looks like a regular sports bike without the charging kit. Bearing the same sporty look, it has LED running lights that consume less battery power.

As speed is needed for any sports bike, the makers say that the bike can reach a top speed of 200 kmph. “It reaches 100 kmph in just 3 seconds on a fully charged battery,” adds Vinay. He adds, “Though it’s a e-bike, we don’t want to compromise on the safety. As it’s about the speed, safety was given the top priority.

The bike has ABS and rider assistance. Another special feature is that the malfunction will be immediately reported to the maker, where we can rush to assistance of the rider.” Emflux ONE weighs 169 kg, which is equal to regular 200 to 250CC bikes on Indian roads.

The standard version of Emflux ONE is priced at Rs 6 lakh on road. The model with three performance upgrades like Ohlins suspension, forged alloy wheels and ultralight carbon fiber panels will be Rs 11 lakh.
